Shin soreness generally has a recovery period of 5-6 weeks before a horse is able to commence any form of exercise. I used Rocktape to treat shin soreness in a 3yo thoroughbred gelding and was very impressed with the results. Within 24 hours; on palpation the horse showed no signs of shin soreness. The horse was rested and taped for 10 days, the following 7 days the horse remained rested with no tape and then the horse commenced full work with the tape on for a further 10 days. The horse has showed no signs of shin soreness since commencing full work and trialled 6 weeks later.
