Just returned from Canberra after having completed the Capital Bush Marathon, 42k’s of off road running in Fantastic scenery!  It was very tough
as we don’t have mountains quite like those over there and there was a fair amount of running up hill to be done.  The terrain was always changing and
went from grass to rocks to gravel to red dirt, but fortunately no sand like the Wally Cairns XC run in Kings park!  We had to climb over and through
obstacles and go through water and we watched hundreds of kangaroos make our progress look slow and awkward compared to their graceful bounding.  It was a really wonderful experience and I thoroughly recommend that if you haven’t tried off road running, go give it a try!  The lady who came 2nd was 61 years
old and didn’t look 40 so it must be good for you!
